The Killers Featuring Lou Reed - Tranquilize

Lou Reed is back in action with none other than The Killers of all bands. “Tranquilize” is the first single to be released on their new forth coming album called Sawdust. The majority of tracks on this new album will be comprised of b sides, remixes, cover songs and soundtrack singles but “Tranquilize” stands to be the first previously unreleased original track featuring guest vocals from Lou Reed. Tranquilize is a classic example of why some bands should stick to what they are good at. That’s not to say that this is a horrible track, but it’s definitely not up to par with what the Killers have shown they can do in the past. In short, the entire track is a bit half assed and repetitive from a musical and lyrical standpoint. Despite this mess of a single, I still have some hope for the rest the new album and it will be especially interesting to see how the Killers interpret several covers including songs from Joy Division, Dire Straits and many more.
