In hopes to “reintroduce” todays young readers to yesterdays classic comic series, Marvel and several others are putting more than 2,500 issues online in digital format for immediate consumption. As of this week, users will be able to log onto Marvel.com and read X-Men, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Wonder Woman and many more directly from the site. These new digital comics will not be downloadable but will be available online for “at least 6 months after they first appear in print” which is a very aggressive approach for any publishing company. This just proves my point that publishers are very slowly starting to realize the potential of providing content online as I mentioned in last week’s article about Rolling Stone.

Other companies such as DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics already provide digital versions of their comics online at MySpace.com of all sites, so it was only a matter of time before Marvel made the leap. DC Comics president Paul Levitz said he expects to put more original comics online in coming years. “We look at anything that connects comics to people,” Levitz said. “The most interesting thing about the online world to me is the opportunity for new forms of creativity. … It’s a question of what forms of storytelling work for the Web?”

Marvel is taking a slightly different approach by charging 9 dollars per month to view unlimited issues, or a yearly commitment of $59.88 for the same deal. Marvel comics will be viewable in several different formats online including “frame-by-frame” navigation. As stated above, more than 2,500 issues are now available at Marvel Digital Comics, with 20 more being released each week.

The Tokyo motor show is right around the corner and Honda is planning on making a few jaws drop with the EVO6 concept bike. When art meets engineering, the EVO6 is the result. Ever since the Ducati Monster and Buell Streetfighter bikes were released years ago, more engine exposure and less streamlined body panels seem to be the growing trend in street bikes. With a naked six cylinder 1800 cc engine the EVO6 melds speed with muscle in way that is very appealing to the eye and most likely the road as well. No word yet as to pricing and availability but hopefully this is one concept that will become a reality in the near future.

It seems like everything is going “limited edition” these days including laptops. The new limited line of Sony VAIO FZ’s designed by New York artist Maya Vayuk will bring a little flavor and style to your tech life. There will be two different designs to choose from including “Grow” described as “an organic forest of deep greens, blues and purples “grow” wildly like ivy along the edges of the pitch-black canvas” and “Never Stop” which is “decked in funky interlacing lines, swirling spherical shapes and fantastic colors”.

Only 600 of these limited edition 15” VAIO’s will be made and sold for a starting price of $2500. For that price you get an Intel Core™ 2 Duo machine with Blu-ray Disc, NVIDIA graphics and much more. Also, each Maya Hayuk edition VAIO includes a certificate of authenticity with artist’s signature and desktop wallpaper to match the individually crafted cover art. $25 from each sale will be donated to Hayuk’s charity of choice, “Creativity Explored,” which is a nonprofit visual arts center where artists with developmental disabilities create, exhibit, and sell art. Check out SonyStyle.com for more info on the artist and the laptop.

Simply put, Sam takes pictures of life and the environment around him, but what’s amazing is how he can make anything look appealing in a photograph, even someone’s nasty feet covered by worn out socks as pictured in this post. Some would say that with a good camera, anyone can take great looking photographs, but there is something more in this case. Each photograph (posted one a day) has a story behind it whether it’s a broken down old building or just some random guy sitting on a sidewalk bench. Just subscribe to his RSS feed or take a few seconds once a day to check out a new picture on “Daily Dose of Imagery”. Click here for more examples of Sam’s work or check out his photo blog now for the entire archive.
