Vapors magazine is defined in wikipedia as a “progressive metropolitan lifestyle publication focusing on Art, Fashion, Music and Skateboarding.” In other words, it’s a cool mag with a ton of great content, and if you have never heard of it, you might want to check it out. Either way, Vapors magazine has gone digital which is the real story here. If you haven’t noticed by now, MassivePress.com is all over digital alternatives for otherwise traditional media and Vapors magazine definitely fits the bill. Founded in 2000 by Jason Maggio and Chris Hull in Sacramento, California, Vapors is a nationally distributed magazine published out of Los Angeles, but now everyone can have a peek at this great mag. Tony Hawk’s ShredOrDie.com Goes Live

Think YouTube, but dedicated to extreme sports video clips “only” and you have ShredOrdDie.com backed by the original shredder himself, Tony Hawk. ShredOrDie.com features skate, snow, bmx and moto clips submitted by pro’s and newb’s alike. You can also browse tip and trick instructional video’s as well to help you step up your skills.

“I’m excited to be a part of Shred or Die because I like the idea of creating a site where action sports fans can find content from professional and non-professional athletes, as well as creating their own and sharing it. The action sports community has a unique camaraderie and I want our site to reflect that,” said Hawk.

“I have also been interviewing various celebrities during my extensive travels, creating clips called Dissent TV,” added Hawk. These interviews will include appearances from Shaun White, Ryan Sheckler, Ed Helms, Bam Margera, Christian Slater and Isaac Brock just to name a few. International Snowboard Mag Goes Digital

Digital magazines are hitting the web like crazy this year and ISM (International Snowboard Magazine) is joining the club. ISM launched Issue #1 of their digital magazine this month which is packed with more than 100 pages of snowboard gear, editorials, interviews and much more. Reading ISM digital is simple, just head on over to isboardmag.com, launch issue one and start flipping pages. ISM digital steps it up a notch with embedded and interactive media throughout the magazine. From what I can tell, ISM will release new issues on a bi-monthly basis, but after reviewing the first issue I can say that this mag is top notch an definitely worth the wait.

Onboard Digital Mag & The Death of Paper

It’s good to see more paper based publications go fully digital these days, but ONBOARD Magazine is taking one step further by establishing their name and magazine as a digital only publication. The idea of paper based printing is becoming a thing of the past as the digital lifestyle becomes easier and cheaper for people to consume and for companies to produce. Not to mention that using less paper helps the environment in many ways. ONBOARD Digital will be a forever FREE snowboarding mag that will include a “multimedia blend of action packed video, amazing images, animated flash and funny-ass text delivering complete coverage of all that is snowboarding this season”.

I hope that more publications get the hint and start to provide their magazines online and for FREE. The key word being FREE because most publications make 99% of their earnings potential through embedded advertisements within content. FHM magazine is a classic example of how things are changing. FHM recently dumped their paper based magazine in the US and are now completely online. Fact is they probably couldn’t afford it, or it didn’t make sense to maintain their traditional paper based magazine because most of us head online anyway to get the latest updates.

The premiere issue of ONBOARD Mag will be available on October 17th with a new issue available every two weeks after that. All you have to do is sign up and each new issue will be delivered right to your email address. People that sign up before the first issue automatically get entered to win a full setup from Forum snowboards.
